Alternative Energy Program for Belarus
INFORSE-Europe Activities in 2003-04:
In 2003-04, a national sustainable energy plan is developed for Belarus, based on experience with sustainable energy solutions in Western Europe as well as on INFORSE’s experience with the Vision 2050 strategy for phase-out of fossil and nuclear energy until 2050.

In 1992, IEA developed Alternative Energy Program for Belarus based on renewable energy.

Since August 1995, IEA has performed monitoring of wind potential of north-western part of Belarus with SOWICO wind computer. We obtained data essentially different from the official one (30-40%). Our aim is to install a few Windturbines of some Western firms in Belarus.

Our colleagues have signed a contract with Eldorado EC Program about 5 Windturbines (70% of costs will be covered by EC and we need to find money to cover the rest 30% of costs, at least, for small (250 kw) one.

We plan to build up "0"-level energy Center of Transfer of Alternative Energy Technologies in Minsk. It will be an educational Center and we try to build it very cheap ($20000).
